Have you ever been excited to hit a nightclub with your friends, only to be disappointed by the long waiting line to get in? Or experienced the chaotic and crowded bar service making it impossible to order a simple drink? If so, you’re not alone. Studies have found that over 25% of our survey respondents have left the bar to go to another venue due to long wait times.
Nightclubs are losing customers due to long wait times during entry and bar service.
On average, it only takes 4 minutes to prepare a drink at a bar, but consumers must wait for 9 minutes to receive their drinks, and this can even go up to 15 minutes during busy periods. This is due to a variety of reasons: people crowd near the bar while ordering and choosing food and drinks, making it tough for others to order;
Additionally, for bartenders, they are the only ones handling order requests, making the drinks, and also settling payments. All of this slows down the entire ordering process at bars.
According to our survey, 68% of participants aren’t willing to wait longer than 30 minutes in the line to get into the nightclub. And almost 72% aren’t willing to wait at the bar for more than 10 minutess to get their drinks.
SKIPSY is a mobile app designed to expedite the entry and bar service experience for nightclub customers. By making the whole nightclub experience more efficient, it will increase the number of customers that nightclubs attract every night, while allowing customers to skip the line and get tipsy quicker - a win-win for both parties.

Other tab management apps, such as Overflow, Noble, and Barpay exist. However, none of them offer the full list of features that we previously mentioned. SKIPSY’s competitive advantage lies in the fact that our mobile app is well-rounded and manages both the waitlist and bar ordering experience for consumers and nightclubs. Additionally, our team believed that the bidding system is novel and will be welcomed by consumers while being profitable to the clubs.
After conducting market analysis, I derived the Total Available Market, Serviceable Available Market, and Serviceable Obtainable Market. The TAM consists of 64,000 nightclubs in the U.S with a market size of more than 25 billion dollars. The SAM consists of 1,600 nightclubs in Los Angeles with a size of roughly around 627 million dollars. Lastly, the SOM will capture all night clubs within a 5 mile radius of USC, which is 44 nightclubs with a size of approximately 17.26 million dollars.
